Reminder:

The IRS announced that the last day to electronically file individual 1040 tax returns is Saturday, November 26, 2022. All returns must be transmitted prior to 11:59 PM eastern time in order to be processed. The temporary shutdown of the Modernized e-File (MeF) system will allow the IRS to prepare the system for the upcoming 2023 filing season.

The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers in certain designated disaster areas that they can still paper file their tax returns on extension until the extended due date. See the IRS disaster relief page for more information. Business returns will not be impacted by the production shutdown on November 26th. The IRS will send out information outlining the business return shutdown/cutover in early December.

We will keep you informed as the IRS releases information about the start of electronic filing for the 2023 filing season.
